What was announced

The BC NDP announced Schierling for Delta North on Saturday, September 26. Jason McCormick was named the same day for Delta South. Outgoing Delta North MLA and Health Minister Ravi Kahlon endorsed him. Kahlon is not seeking another term.

Schierling is president of the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Association and a suppression fire captain with Surrey Fire Service. The party record says he has served there since 1996, and that he has spent nearly 30 years serving the community.

His published reason for running: “Things are tough right now, and Donald Trump’s trade war is putting more pressure on families and workers in Delta. We need to stand up for Canadian jobs, protect the services people rely on and keep investing in our communities.”

His campaign page the same weekend says he has been a neighbour, an advocate, and a first responder, and that he wants to be the MLA. It does not publish a riding platform, a cost figure, or a list of local projects he would fund.

Others named in Delta North

Party announcements also name Kuldeep Rangi for Centre BC and Monica Mohan for the BC Conservatives in Delta North. This note does not confirm the final October 3 nomination list. Elections BC is the record for who is on the ballot.
