What the BC Conservatives have put on the record — and what is still missing

Provincial election day is October 24, 2026. Lorne Doerkson is interim leader. As of October 3, the party’s current “Our Platform” page says “coming soon.” Its campaign releases and energy plan are available. This review covers selected pledges, not every policy on the website; it does not treat older platform material as a new, costed 2026 platform. Costs and start dates are noted only where the party has published them.

Published campaign language is checked against the party’s own pages and linked documents. Reported remarks are identified separately. “Not published” below means not found in the specific sources reviewed, not proof that a figure exists nowhere.

Taxes — September 27, Surrey

No new taxes, and no tax increases, for the whole of a Doerkson government. The release does not say which existing taxes would be cut, or by how much.

Canadian alcohol PST — September 29, Langley

Remove PST at the till on Canadian beer, wine and spirits for the duration of the U.S. trade war. The release does not publish a revenue-loss estimate or an implementation date.

LNG and energy — September 28

The September 28 release describes doubling LNG production by 2032 and tripling it by 2035; the linked plan uses natural-gas production for its target. These are different measures, and the party should clarify the intended baseline. The plan proposes a legislated 120-day approval process, ending some emissions limits and replacing the carbon-tax framework. It names pipeline expansions. A total public cost or subsidy estimate was not found in the reviewed energy documents.

On October 1 the party welcomed Ottawa’s designation of the Pacific Link Pipeline as a project of national interest and said a Doerkson government would ask for a trilateral working group with Alberta and Ottawa.

Energy release, September 28, 2026 · BC Energy Superpower Plan

SOGI and DRIPA — reported remarks, September 28

In reported September 28 remarks, Doerkson said he would remove SOGI from schools and repeal the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA). The two commitments should not be described as repealing two statutes: the SOGI commitment concerns school resources and practice. A detailed replacement approach was not found in the sources reviewed here.

Wildfire — October 2, Summerland

A Protect Communities from Wildfire Action Plan: buy firefighting aircraft, including water bombers; clear fuels around communities; make prescribed fire easier without lowering safety standards; let qualified crews work together faster; fund early-detection technology. The release promises immediate implementation in government, aiming to prepare for next summer. It gives no aircraft count, contract price or budget line.

What the record does and does not show

The reviewed record shows a tax-freeze pledge, a Canadian-alcohol PST cut, energy-production targets, support for Pacific Link, reported SOGI-removal and DRIPA-repeal pledges, and a wildfire plan without a published budget in its release.

The current platform page does not provide a new, fully costed 2026 plan. The reviewed releases do not provide a combined fiscal plan explaining how revenue, spending and borrowing would cover the pledges. A tax freeze does not itself establish whether services would be cut.
